Machias River Corridor Details
The Machias River is a popular waterway stretching over 70 miles long. Both beautiful and harsh, the river was used as a transportation route for early natives before the logging industry took it over. The rapids here are known to be difficult, and it wasn't the inexperienced explorer who tried to navigate these waters. Visitors who traverse the river will float through a series of ponds, aptly numbered one through five, and can camp along the banks. Besides incredible scenery, anglers also love this area as the Machias River Corridor is home to a large population of wild Atlantic River Salmon.
