Competing with the many scenic drives, mountain hikes, and ocean views of Acadia National Park is a boulder known as the South Bubble Erratic, or "Bubble Rock". Estimated to have originated approximately 40 miles away based on its geological makeup, the large rock was once moved by glacial ice sheets over 10,000 years ago to now sit stoically atop South Bubble Mountain. With a peak reaching 768 feet, the precariously placed rock along the mountainside trail is a sight not to be overlooked.
