Bubble Rock Details
Also known as Balanced Rock, this giant boulder is one of the Park's most recognized and visited landmarks. The rock, which weighs about 14 tons and is flecked with pink quartz and granite, is considered a prime example of a glacial erratic, or a massive boulder deposited by a receding glacier that was formed thousands of years ago. Although it is situated along the popular South Bubble Trail, Bubble Rock can be viewed from the shores of Jordan Pond as well as from the Park Loop Road. And yes, it is very firmly anchored to its perch on the South Bubble!
