Banff Legacy Trail Details
What better way to celebrate Banff National Park than riding along the Banff Legacy Trail, which was built in honor of the park's 125th anniversary. The 22.3-kilometer (nearly 14-mile) one-way paved pathway travels from the Bow Valley Parkway to the Banff Park East Gate, and is best experienced mid-April through mid-October. During your ride, stop along the way to enjoy interpretive panels, rest spots and picnic areas, adding to the trail's already-impressive appeal. Add to your ride by pedaling another 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles) from the Banff Park East Gate to the Travel Alberta Visitor Center. What's a few more kilometers/miles? The Banff Legacy Trail is a testament to, and celebration, of the values of the national park, encouraging visitors and Bow Valley residents to explore the landscape in an environmentally friendly way. Be sure to follow the park's rules and regulations to make the most of your ride: be bear aware; ride on designated trails; avoid riding during extreme conditions; help preserve the trails' quality; know your limits; yield to other riders; and, of course, leave no trace.
