Follow the loop in a counter-clockwise direction and you'll wind through a montane forest before arriving at the far end of Johnson Lake. Stop and admire the views of Cascade Mountain before continuing the trail around the lake, passing by some of the province's oldest Douglas fir trees. Keep an eye out for waterfowl in and around the shallow bay, too. More detailed trail descriptions and maps are available at Banff National Park and Parks Canada Visitor Centres, and remember when out on the trails that cell phone service is not reliable.'The trailhead for this hike is in the Johnson Lake day-use area, off of Lake Minnewanka Road.
