At West Thumb, your driver guide leads a walking tour through the basin, sharing stories that date back to 1827, when fur trapper Daniel T. Potts wrote one of the first published descriptions of Yellowstones thermal wonders. After exploring the boardwalks, the tour returns north with scenic stops along the lakeshore to take in beaches, mountain backdrops, and the clear, cold waters that have inspired visitors for generations. Weather permitting, part of the journey may be enjoyed with the convertible top open for an even more immersive experience. Tours operate May 16 through October 10, 2026, with check in at 12:45 pm and return around 4:00 pm. Adult rate is 84.47 dollars and child rate for ages 3 to 11 is 42.23 dollars, with children under 3 free. Taxes and fees are included. Gratuities are appreciated but not included.
