If you want to experience the heart of Yellowstone in a single, well planned day, Cruising the Caldera follows the parks lower loop, where most of its most famous sights are found. Along with the Circle of Fire, this is one of Yellowstones longest running and signature tours, offered for decades. Your driver guide leads you to Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone Lake, Hayden Valley with wildlife viewing as conditions allow, the Upper and Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and the Fountain Paint Pot Nature Trail, where all four types of thermal features can be seen in one stop. It is a classic overview of geysers, waterfalls, wildlife, and sweeping volcanic landscapes. From May 16 to October 10, tours travel by 40 foot motorcoach. From October 11 to 24, transportation shifts to a Ford Transit or minibus, depending on availability. For the 2026 season, departures are offered from Canyon at Washburn Lodge from May 16 to October 24 with check in at 7:45 am and return around 4:15 pm. Departures from Fishing Bridge RV Park run May 16 to October 10 with check in at 9:30 am and return around 6:15 pm. Departures from Lake Yellowstone Hotel operate May 16 to October 10 with check in at 9:45 am and return around 6:30 pm. Adult rate is 126.83 dollars and child rate for ages 3 to 11 is 63.41 dollars, with children under 3 free. Taxes and fees are included. Lunch is not included. Guests may bring a bag lunch or purchase food during the midday stop. Gratuities for guides are appreciated but not included.
