Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel & Cabins Details
Set just below the steaming limestone terraces that give the area its name, Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel welcomes both summer and winter visitors in Yellowstone northern range. Elk are frequent visitors too, often grazing on the lawns near the old Fort Yellowstone parade grounds. The current hotel dates to 1936 and incorporates a wing built in 1911, and it recently underwent major renovations to its public spaces and guest rooms. Inside, the signature Map Room features a large wooden map of the United States crafted from 15 different kinds of wood from nine countries. Mammoth is one of the few park lodges open in winter, with guided snowcoach tours departing daily to places like Lamar Valley, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and Old Faithful. The on site Bear Den ski shop provides rentals, lessons, and tours for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Accommodations range from hotel rooms and suites to a variety of cabins behind the main building. Suites include a separate sitting area and are the only in park rooms with satellite television. Deluxe rooms offer comfortable, updated lodging within the hotel, while cabins range from year round hot tub cabins with enclosed patios to more rustic frontier cabins and simple cabins without private baths. Most cabins without baths, as well as frontier cabins, are not available in winter. All hotel rooms are elevator accessible, and ADA rooms are available in limited numbers. As with all Yellowstone park lodging, accommodations are non smoking and designed to reflect the natural surroundings. There is no air conditioning, radio, or internet service, and cell coverage is limited. Pets and cooking are not permitted. Season dates are late-April to early-March, with dates subject to change.
