Hoyt Peak Details
Hoyt Peak is a prominent mountain along the East Entrance Road in Yellowstone, situated right at Sylvan Pass, southeast of Avalanche Peak. In 1881, park superintendent Philetus W. Norris named the peak in honor of John W. Hoyt, the first territorial governor of Wyoming; he'd been in the park to survey a route into Yellowstone from the east.
