Eleanor Lake Details
Eleanor Lake is a small lake located on the south side of the East Entrance Road, 7.5 miles west of the East Entrance Station. The lake was named by park engineer Hiram Chittenden for his daughter, Eleanor. The lake gets its water from two streams, one entering from the northeast and one from the southeast. There is no outlet (though during high water periods, the lake drains into Sylvan Lake's outlet). The small Eleanor Lake Picnic Area is located on the western edge of the lake. The lake hosts a small population of cutthroat trout, and was routinely stocked with the fish from the park's fisheries during the 1930s and 1940s.
