Box Canyon Details
This box-shaped canyon, located between Longmire and the Stevens Canyon Entrance, has steep walls carved out by the Muddy Fork of the Cowlitz River. Access it via a .5-mile paved path from the Stevens Canyon Road. Peer into this narrow slot canyon as you cross the bridge over the Cowlitz River and you can see water rushing by more than 100 feet down; keep a sharp eye out for wildlife here, especially coyotes. There's a picnic area and restrooms near the parking area.
