Chimney Point Details

There is more to this peninsula than beautiful views over the shores of Lake Champlain. It is one of the only places in Vermont with an extensive heritage that expands across multiple cultures and settlements. The original inhabitants of this land were indigenous tribes who lived on the peninsula over 9,000 years ago. When European explorers arrived in the early 1600s, they also settled in this area and used the bluff for meeting and trading with the natives. It was also a strategic military outpost for the French and Indian War as well as the American Revolutionary War.
