Shoreham Covered Railroad Bridge Details

When you visit East Shoreham, make sure to stop by this historic covered bridge over the Lemon Fair River. It was originally built in 1897 for the Rutland Railroad Company, although the tracks have since been removed since the line was decommissioned in 1951. Because it is the last remaining wooden Howe truss bridge in the state, it is a unique landmark that is worth visiting. Although it is prohibited to vehicle traffic, visitors are still allowed to cross it using the footpath.
