Northgate Peaks Trail Details
This short, easy hike leads through a shrubby, pine-studded plateau until its junction with Wildcat Canyon Trail, where it enters a dense, shady ponderosa pine forest. Following the edge of Wildcat Canyon through open meadows, it offers good views of the towering slickrock domes of the Northgate Peaks and the interior of Wildcat Canyon, as well as the surrounding cliffs as the trail descends into the canyon. Elk sightings are often reported in the meadows near the canyon, which are also home to mule deer and black-tailed jackrabbits.
