West Temple Details
Surrounded by jagged peaks and a red landscape broken up by desert shrubbery, this is one of the park's most underrated landmarks. The 7,810-foot mesa is visible from almost any point within Zion National Park, and is recognizable by its height, the reddish limestone bands that form a cap on the summit, and its unusually blocky structure. Another of West Temple's unique features is the semblance of a horse's heads that has been naturally eroded on the mesa's southern face. This steep-sided, flat-topped feature can also be seen up close in the Kolob Canyons.
