Alcove Spring Details
In the northwest section of the Island in the Sky District lays the Alcove Spring Trail. Developed first by Anasazi people and later by cattle ranchers in the 1800's this trail descends 440 feet through the red rocks 0.7 miles to a reliable water source. The well maintained trail is lined with the naturally-stimulating Mormon Tea plants (Ephedra Viridis) and junipers. Bring insect repellent and water, especially if you plan on continuing the entire 6.4 miles to the Taylor Campground on the White Rim Trail where the Moses and Zeus formations are visible.
