Purtis Creek State Park Details
With plenty of activities to do on water and land, this park makes for an easy day trip from Dallas. Here, you'll find over 1,500 acres of stunning landscapes to explore, from crystal blue lakes to tree-lined forests. Some of the earliest inhabitants of the area were native Wichita and Caddo tribes, although the land was also used by settlers in the 19th century. The park was bought from private owners in 1977 and was opened as a state park to the public in 1988. Fishing in the 355-acre lake is one of the most popular activities, with reel, rod, and tackle box rental facilities located inside the park. Boaters can also spend the day cruising the waters, while more land-enclined guests can trek some of the forested trails around the lake. Entrance Fees - Adult: $5 Daily - Child 12 Years and Under: Free Reservations are available [online] (https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/purtis-creek-state-park/r/facilityDetails.do?contractCode=TX&parkId=1200122&_ga=2.192805807.447085507.1618845916-917412064.1616861417) or by calling (512) 389-8900
