Lake Tawakoni State Park Details
Although it may be world-famous for housing the largest spider web ever documented, there's more to this park than this record-breaking (and slightly creepy) achievement. That's because this state park is an outdoor paradise with tons of things on land and on water to explore. The park gets its name after the Tawakoni tribe, who inhabited the land centuries before it became a place for ranchers and farmers. In 1960, the Sabine River Authority was ordered to build a lake to be used as the main water supply for Dallas. The state signed a leasing agreement with the authority and decided to open up a public park for guests to enjoy in 2002. Nowadays, visitors have over 370 acres of nature to roam, including the picturesque Lake Tawakoni. It's a great place to go boating, fishing, or swimming. Guests who are interested in spending a few days in the park can use the RV campsite or the primitive tent area a few hundred feet from the shore. Entrance Fees - Adult (Day Use): $5 Daily - Child 12 Years and Under: Free Reservations are available [online] (https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/lake-tawakoni-state-park/r/facilityDetails.do?contractCode=TX&parkId=1200120&_ga=2.205330197.447085507.1618845916-917412064.1616861417) or by calling (512) 389-8900
