Lake Corpus Christi State Park Details
As one of the more diverse state parks in Texas, you'll find marshes, wooded forests, wetlands, and lakes during your visit. This park is also known for its wildlife. There have been over 200 types of birds that have been identified in the park, along with mammals including pigs, rabbits, and deer. As one of the largest artificial lakes in Texas, Lake Corpus Christi spans over 21,000 feet in size. It was created in the mid-1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, who also built bathhouses and boathouses on the shores (although they have since been destroyed). Water activities reign supreme and many people come to go swimming, paddling, kayaking, and fishing. The lake has two different fishing piers and fish cleaning stations, where you can prep your catfish, sunfish, and white bass after reeling them in. Just keep an eye out for alligators - they are known to lurk along the shores as well.
