Fort Leaton State Historic Site Details
The site of a former trading post, this park honors Fort Leaton. Built in 1848 by Ben Leaton, it soon became the primary trading post in the region for trade with the Apache and Comanche Native Americans. Visitors can explore the former fort and learn about its history, attend a guided tour, or enjoy a picnic. The park is located on the western entrance to Big Bend Ranch State Park, and also administrators permitting for backpacking and camping for Big Bend Ranch State (in addition to Barton Warnock Visitor Center at the eastern entrance). The park is only available for day use. Entrance Fees - 13 years and older: $5 Daily - Child 12 Years and Under: Free
