A pink granite dome that rises above the surrounding area is the primary attraction of this park. People have visited "The Rock" for thousands of years, and today it attracts over 250,000 visitors each year - one of the most visited states in the state. Many people come to experience the dark night sky and quietness of the park. It's no surprise then that over 400 archeological sites have been found in the park. Visitors can also explore the 11 miles of hiking trails, rocking climbing, bird watching, and stargazing. In fact, the park has been designated an International Dark Sky Park because of the quality of the dark sky. Campsites - primitive only - are available for overnight camping.
