Brazos Bend State Park Details
With over 5,000 acres of bottomland and upland coastal prairie, this former hunting ranch features nature as the highlight of this park. The park is famous for the diversity of species including the American alligator. The park includes 37 miles of trails for walking and biking. Fish off of one of the several fishing piers or camp overnight at one of the numerous campsites available. The park is naturally a bird watchers' paradise with over 300 documented species which are regularly seen throughout the year. There is also a nature center with exhibits that interpret the ecosystems in the park. The George Observatory offers a unique opportunity to explore the universe through high-powered telescopes. Tickets are sold separately for the observatory. Remember, always use caution around alligators. Stay at least 30 feet away from alligators, never feed them!
