Brazos Bend Details

This trail is the perfect place to see the wide variety of wildlife native to Texas. From nine-banded armadillo and North American river otters to white-tailed deer and migratory White Ibises, the park is known to have over 300 different species. The most famous creatures are the American Alligators, which roam wild through the various lakes. There are believed to be over 250 alligators measuring anywhere from 4 feet to 16 feet in length. The best place for spotting these elusive alligators is from the observation tower at 40 Acre Lake. Not only will you have a birds eye view over the marshy wetlands, but you could possibly see dozens of alligators sunbathing themselves on the banks. You can also head to the Elm Lake Wildlife Viewing Platform to see what other wildlife lurks around the park.
