Canterbury Shaker Village Details
This historic site was once a flourishing shaker community from the late 1700s until the early 1900s. At its peak, over 300 people lived in the village, although the popularity started to slowly decline until it was officially closed in 1957. The museum became a National Historic Landmark and was reopened as a museum to the public. Twenty-five original homes and structures remain, including a horse bar, infirmary, schoolhouse, and office.
