Triple Divide Pass Trail Details
On one side of the Continental Divide, water spills toward the Atlantic Ocean. On the other, the water travels to the Pacific. In Glacier National Park there is an unusual hydrological feature where water actually flows into three drainages: the Gulf of Mexico, the Hudson Bay and the Pacific Ocean. This spot is Triple Divide Peak, and you can reach it via Triple Divide Pass. The hike starts through a meadow which in the summer is often full of wildflowers. This is an area that sees few visitors, and you might have the trail and the stunning views of massive mountains and hanging valleys to yourself. Aside from the novelty of visiting Triple Divide Peak and the pass, this is a stunningly beautiful hike. When you reach the top of the pass you can scramble up to the top of the peak. Glacier is grizzly country. Carry bear spray, make noise and travel in groups. The trailhead is in the Cut Bank Area.
