Quartz Creek Campground Details
To reach Quartz Creek you'll need to travel a dirt road marked with blind turns, few pull-outs, and a maximum speed limit of 20 mph. That deters most visitors. Those who make the trek are rewarded with a wilderness experience in a front-country campground. (RVs and trucks with trailers shouldn't try to navigate the road to the campground.) Quartz Creek is the smallest campground in Glacier National Park: there are only seven primitive sites. That means people need to bring their own water, though there are pit toilets at the campground. Tent campers should bringing their hiking gear. A 6.2-mile hike to Lower Quartz Lake provides beautiful views. The campground is open July through October and sites are first-come first-served and cost $10 a night. Glacier is bear country, and black bears and grizzlies can frequent the campground. Food must be properly stored at all times.
