This hikes takes you to Dawson Pass along the Continental Divide, at an elevation of 7,598 feet and through an area known for bighorn sheep. You can shave several miles off this hike if you opt to take a boat shuttle across Two Medicine Lake. Otherwise, plan on adding about 4 miles round trip to your day. You'll walk through woods and thick berry patches. The first part of the hike is relatively flat, before it starts to climb. Eventually you'll pass a junction for No Name Lake. It's a short side path if you are looking for a spot for a break before the trail starts climbing again. This hike takes you through an area known for big horn sheep and provides views of the valley below. From the Pass, you'll take in incredible views of mountains, snow fields, and lakes below. Sitting at more than 7,000 feet, Dawson Pass can be chilly and is known for its wind. Make sure you have a jacket with you. Some people like to carry trekking poles to help balance in the gusts of wind that can knock people off balance in the exposed terrain. Remember, Glacier is grizzly country. Carry bear spray, make noise and travel in groups. The trailhead is at the Two Medicine Lake campground, or access from the boat dock at Two Medicine Lake.
