Pitamakan Pass Trail Details
Hikers start their journey to Pitamakan Pass by skirting the eastern slopes of Rising Wolf Mountain. This is a relatively open hike with views of Flinsch Peak and Mt. Morgan. After reaching the Dry Fork Trail junction, hikers should turn left towards Pitamakan Pass. To reach the base of the climb to the pass, hikers will pass Oldman Lake. It is recommended that hikers pause, eat lunch, and rest before heading up the final sections of the trail. Several short switchbacks will see climbers ascend nearly 750 feet in one mile. Pitamakan Pass rests at the top of a knife-like ridge from which hikers will command views of Oldman Lake, Flinsch Peak, Mt. Morgan, Pitamakan Lake, Morningstar Lake, Katoya Lake, Red Mountain, Eagle Plume, and Bad Marriage Mountain. From here, you may continue onwards towards Dawson Pass. Trailhead: North Shore Trailhead.
