A spur off the Great Island Trail leads to Jeremy Point -- take the trail to the left if you want to visit the site of the Wellfleet Tavern along the way. Emerging from the pine forest you'll come out onto the Jeremy Point Overlook above the dunes and marshes at the southern tip of Great Island. Enjoy the solitude of one of Cape Cod's most remote spots before deciding whether to proceed south along the slim spit of sand to Jeremy Point: be careful if you do, because parts of the trail may be underwater depending upon the tide.
