This "McMansion" is a sad example of what the entire Cape Cod shoreline might have looked like without federal protection. Thanks to a loophole in local zoning laws, the owners of a lot within the Cape Cod National Seashore were able to tear down an existing house and replace it with one twice as high and three times larger -- more than 5,800 square feet in all.
