Monument Hill Details

A 1.0-mile moderate loop hike. Monument Hill is situated close to both Lewiston/Auburn and Augusta, Maine, making the route a popular stop for day hikers. The trail to the top of the monument hill is roughly a mile long and splits off to form a loop to and from the summit. The name comes from the civil war monument placed at the top by Major General Howard as a peace commemoration. Where there once was a fire tower, visitors can now ascend to the peak to view the Maine landscape and Androscoggin Lake.
