As a boy he often visited the island, and after college purchased the land to build his home. Structured in the shape of a boat, the house is open to visitors and includes souvenirs of his travels. Besides his house, the grounds here have trails and gardens to enjoy during the summer months and the island itself is considered a bird sanctuary.
