Cross River Preserve Details
The mudflats created by the tidal flow of the Cross River create the bulk of habitat for wildlife on the 19 acres of the Cross River Preserve. The waterway itself is an offshoot of the Sheepscot, making it part of one of the largest stretches left of river frontage that is yet untouched by development. Used in the 1700s mainly as pastureland, the trees were cut and then later abandoned to grow into the habitat of today. Visitors are bound to see the multitude of species that thrive in the wetland areas while walking the .9 mile trail.
