Saunders Preserve Details
Lying where the Damariscotta River, Kelly Brook, and the Pleasant Cove of Boothbay meet, the 22.5 acres of Saunders Preserve were donated for a loving naturalist, Marshall E. Saunders. A local man who loved the wilderness of Maine, his family wished for this piece of land to remain forever untouched in his memory. The mile loop trail runs through the forest, past wetlands and cattail fields, a beaver dam, and riverfront to show off the land that is now a wildlife sanctuary where hunting and human interference are forbidden.
