As a total of 626 acres, the Alewive Woods Preserve only has a short trail for exploring. With an easy looping trail of only a couple of miles, most of the preserve is occupied by the main attraction, a 45-acre pond, which is popular for a multitude of recreational activities. Destroyed by fires in 1947 and almost made into a subdivision, the land has since been saved to become a thriving area of blooming wildflowers, pine, and wildlife.
