Although this is only a minor section of the Appalachian trail, it could easily be one of the most magical. You will start by running parallel against Long Creek, which trickles through the round boulders and exposed tree roots of the shallow banks. After 1 mile, you will come across the two-tiered falls. But before you even make it to the starting point, you will need to drive down a 5-mile dirt and gravel path. If you do not have a 4WD or SUV, this trip can be a little challenging.
