Amicalola Falls State Park Details
Amicalola Falls State Park is the beginning part of the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail and is home to its namesake, Amicalola Falls. The waterfall is one of the Seven Wonders of Georgia and reaches 792 feet in height making it the tallest in the state. The Cherokee word for "tumbling waters" is where the park's name is derived as they were the first to inhabit the area before settlers received the land during the Georgia Land Lottery. The 8-mile long trail traveling past the waterfall leads to the famous Springer Mountain where many Appalachian hikers begin their long treks.
