Long Pine Key Campground Details
Located near the Homestead entrance, the Long Pine Key Campground is one of two large campgrounds within the Everglades. 108 individual drive-up sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis for $20 a night. The campground only has one group site: call 305-242-7873 to make a reservation. Long Pine Key is closed from mid-April to mid-November. There are a few sites that open in mid-November each year, but be sure to call to confirm if you are planning on visiting at that time. The campground is located in a pine forest, which offers both sun protection and privacy. Long Pine is a seven-mile drive from the main entrance, a few miles from the ever-popular Anhinga trail, and adjacent to the Long Pine Key Trail. Amenities include bathrooms, showers, water, fire pits (no place to buy wood, however, so bring your own or collect some), and a dump station for RVs. There is also a picnic area, a fishing pond, an amphitheater (mostly used in the busy winter months), and hiking trails nearby. Check out time is noon.
