Pinelands Trail Details

The Pinelands Trail is a .4-mile paved and wheelchair-accessible loop seven miles from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center. Because it's upland and relatively shady, it's less likely to be plagued by mosquitoes and other bothersome insects. This trail is a showcase for the weird, limestone bedrock that exists throughout the Everglades. The rock, which is full of swiss-cheese like holes, pits, and tiny caves, creates some of the rarest habitats in Florida. Interpretive signs line the trail, so be sure to take time to read them and educate yourself about the odd-looking formations that surround you.
