Tuolumne Meadows (T29) Details

You are standing at an elevation of 8,775 feet and are bracketed by the Cathedral Range to the south and Lembert Dome and Mount Dana to the north. The meadows and surrounding areas are crossed with many hiking trails, and its domes are very popular for rock-climbing. If you are here in late spring or early summer you may be greeted by blooming wildflowers across the sweep of the meadow. If you want to do an easy day hike, you'll find the 1.5-mile Sode Springs/Parsons Memorial Lodge trailhead at the Lembert Dome parking area. There are also longer and more strenuous hikes to Lyell Canyon, the summit of Lembert Dome, Mono Pass, and other destinations. The high altitude means it will be cooler here than in the Yosemite Valley, so bring warm clothes, especially if you plan to hike. The Tuolomne Meadows Campground and Tuolumne Meadows Lodge offer lodging and dining during their brief operating season, which typically runs July to September. Many day-hikers stay here, as do backpackers before setting off to one of the area's High Sierra Camps. You can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the Lodge's dining tent next to the Tuolumne River, and box lunches also are available for purchase. You'll need to make a reservation if you want to come for dinner, though. Roadside marker: T29
