Cathedral Lakes Details
Arguably the most attractive pair of alpine lakes in the High Sierras, these two lakes are lined by pines and the massive Cathedral, Echo, and Tressider Peaks. They offer some stunning seclusion from the Park's usual hustle and bustle. Departing from the renowned John Muir Trail and crossing streams and wading through soggy meadows, the medium-level trail climbs steadily to the tranquil shoreline. The trail spurs near the end, leading to the Upper and Lower lakes; the Lower is the larger and more popular of the two. Trailhead: 9 miles west of Tioga Pass
