Lady Bird Johnson Grove Details
This grove of redwoods is at a higher elevation than most in the park, and is often shrouded in clouds and mist. At an elevation of 1,000 feet above sea level, the grove has an incredible canopy and undergrowth development. The grove was dedicated to Lady Bird Johnson by President Richard Nixon in 1969. There is a substantial parking lot at the trailhead, with restrooms. The easy, one-mile loop trail to the grove typically takes an hour to hike, with stops. Due to some gaps in the grove's canopy, this is one of the few places in the parks where redwoods can be photographed in their entirety.
