Kings Creek Falls Trail Details
The Kings Creek Falls Trail will lead you to Kings Creek Falls, a picturesque waterfall nestled in the California firs. This trail is a great option for those looking for a beautiful photo opportunity after a short hike. Access Kings Creek Falls one of two ways -- via the creek trail or the horse trail. Should you choose the creek trail (2.4 miles round trip), be prepared to hike along rocky and steep outcrops: hiking boots are highly recommended. While the horse trail is a little longer (3 miles round trip), it is less steep and has a steadier descent, which could be good for those with knee issues. The trail ends at a roaring waterfall in a seemingly tropical environment, as the mist from the falls feeds surrounding ferns and other greenery. The high elevation means heavy snowpack in the winter, which bends the trees as they try to resist gravity. The snowpack also means high water melt, which feeds and falls and the lush plants that surround the trail. If you wish to hike further, continue past the falls to access the Warner Valley and a segment of the Pacific Crest Trail. The Kings Creek Trailhead is located off of the main park road, right next to a large white bridge near the center of the park.
