Located in the Joshua Tree backcountry east of Barker Dam, the Queen Valley is home to the park's largest Joshua Tree (it's 40 feet tall!) and also is crisscrossed by 13.4 miles of roads popular with four-wheelers, mountain bikers, and dirt bikers. There are also old mines in the vicinity of Queen Mountain and an unusual section of park populated by evergreens called Pine City. Access is via Queen Valley Road, which runs roughly parallel to Park Boulevard between Barker Dam and Desert Queen Mine.
