Silver Strand State Beach Details
With 2-miles of soft, golden sand hugging both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay, this park is one of Southern Californias most beloved areas. On one side, you have miles of ocean in front of you, while the bayside boasts fantastic views of the city, Coronado bridge, and naval shipyards. The bay is also a better choice for swimming, as it is calmer and warmer than the ocean side. Surfing, kitesurfing, and fishing are also allowed at this beach. There are also R.V. hookups for those interested in camping right on the shores. Keep in mind that this is a very popular park (it is only 15-minutes from downtown San Diego), so it can be quite busy on weekends and during the summer.
