Natural Bridges State Beach Details
This 65-acre state park in Santa Cruz is primarily known for two things its naturally-carved stone bridge and its population of migrating Monarch Butterflies. At one point, there were three natural bridges in the ocean, although the other two were destroyed during a storm. Unfortunately, this one too is at risk of collapsing due to wind and water erosion. During the late fall and winter, thousands of Monarch Butterflies come to the park to roost in the nearby eucalyptus groves. Guests can also wander through the tide pools along the coast, where sea stars, urchins, and hermit crabs congregate. Whales, sea otters, and seals can also be spotted offshore, so be on the lookout while you are swimming or surfing.
