Bright Angel Lodge and Cabins Details

Designed in 1935 by renowned Southwest architect Mary E.J. Colter, Bright Angel Lodge is a Registered National Historic Landmark located at the top of the Bright Angel Trail on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Created to provide more moderately priced lodging than El Tovar, the lodge reflects Colter rustic design philosophy and deep respect for local history. Architectural highlights include the History Room geologic fireplace, which displays the layered rock formations of the canyon. Two preserved historic structures, the Buckey ONeill Cabin and the Red Horse Cabin, are among the unique overnight accommodations available today. The lodge and surrounding cabins offer 90 lodging units ranging from cozy historic rooms with shared baths to standard lodge rooms and rustic cabins with private baths. Most rooms have one bed and include a telephone, coffeemaker, and refrigerator. Satellite television is available in the cabins, while lodge rooms do not have televisions. There are no microwaves and no air conditioning in rooms or cabins. Canyon view rooms are extremely limited and cannot be guaranteed. Parking is shared with all South Rim visitors, and during busy periods guests may need to use satellite parking areas. On site amenities include multiple dining options such as the Harvey House Cafe, Fred Harvey Burger, and the seasonal Arizona Steakhouse, along with a gift shop, coffee house, saloon, and seasonal ice cream fountain. Fireplaces in the rim cabins are currently not operational. Operating dates are subject to change.
