Tumacacori National Historical Park Details
A trio of 17th and 18th century Spanish mission churches, established by the Jesuits in what is now southern Arizona, form the core of the 360-acre Tumacacori National Historic Park. All three are in ruins: the San Jose de Tumacacori mission can be toured solo, while the Los Santos Angeles de Guevavi and San Cayetano de Calabazas ruins -- remnants of the oldest missions in Arizona -- can be viewed only on ranger-led tours. The park visitor center is housed in a historic 1937 building - a National Historic Landmark - and Tumacacori also features a mission garden similar to those raised by the Jesuits. A 4.5-miles segment of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail also passes through the park.
