Most life is centered around the Sonoita Creek, which meanders through this 873-acre park providing a safe place for over 300 different types of birds. Some native birds include Great Blue Heron, Red-tailed Hawks, and Black-throated sparrows, while Honed larks, Brown-crested Flycatchers, and Yellow Warblers usually stop by just in the summer. Hiking is also a popular activity in the preserve. Take the 1-mile long trail to the Tucson Audubons Paton Center for Hummingbirds for a panoramic view of the mountains and forested habitat.
