The 2,770-acre refuge houses a unique velvet ash-cottonwood-black walnut gallery forest, and native fish in the Rio Yaqui watershed. The two-mile Leslie Canyon Trail includes desert grassland and scrub habitats plus an abandoned mine, and is ideal for nature photographers.
